Got catering for a family party -- everyone loved the food and wanted to know where it was from. The menu is larger than middle eastern / mediterranean restaurants, and the owner is very friendly and generous with proportions.
Had the combo plate for lunch here. It came w juicy chicken cubes, beef, and lamb patty. The meat was well seasoned, but not too heavy on the salt. The rice was moist and fluffy. The hummus was flavorful and good. The pita bread was dried, hard, and scraped the top of my mouth. Definitely coming back to try the other dishes.
Best lamb I've found! The meat falls off the bone. Everything is seasoned well and I'm surprised I finished the whole plate without feeling bloated. I ordered the Mandi and my parter ordered Mansaf. The yogurt soup/dip (?) was so good when you pour it over the rice and lamb.
The Mansaf and the Mandi are harder to find dishes in the bay area even for middle eastern restaurants. They have all the kebabs n stuff as well, but I recommend checking out the other dishes first since you can get kebabs/wraps anywhere. Overall, generally enjoyed my food and will probably try some of their other items next time
Ended 2023 at this cozy Palestinian-owned restaurant with friends! The restaurant is situated in a grey industrial-esque location, surrounded by other small businesses, offices, and food trucks. Drive all the way to the back of the lot to find Holyland. Parking was spacious on a Thursday night but foot traffic may be different during afternoons and weekdays. Upon walking in we were greeted by a woman behind a counter, where we ordered and paid for food. Utensils, napkins, and drinks are also in the front. There was plenty of seating with tables that can accommodate for four people each. I ordered the Moussaka with no meat, which is an eggplant dish, stewed in tomato sauce. The eggplant's texture was soft since it was probably simmered in the tomato sauce. The taste was decent, but the sauce definitely tasted like marinara. I also got a strawberry basil drink, which was a sweet and tasty contrast to my savory meal. Lastly, no Mediterranean meal is complete without baklava! There was only one kind, which was a classic walnut filling. The phyllo cover was perfectly flaky and the filling ratio was proportional. I haven't had the chance to eat a lot of Middle Eastern food, so I thought this was a nice introductory meal to expand my palette! I'm always intrigued to learn how other cuisines use and blend spices, so Holyland satisfied this curiosity. I would love to come back and try more dishes, as well as offer my support to Palestinian-owned establishments. Thanks to Holyland for their contribution in our diverse community!
Had the pleasure to dine at this restaurant on a Thursday evening around 6:15 pm! Huge parking lot in the plaza and the restaurant itself is very spacious. My friends and I arrived and sat down immediately. You can either order at the front or bring menus to your table. After looking at their menu, I ordered their chicken shish kabab plate and got one of their chilled drinks of mango juice. The mango juice was so refreshing and great. After 10-12 minutes, my order was brought to my table. My entree consisted of cubed chicken, salad, hummus, and rice. The salad was sour and fresh, the hummus had a great smooth texture, and the cubed chicken was grilled to perfection. Great atmosphere for families, groups, and couples to dine at! Definitely recommend!
Absolutely delicious! I loved the rice in the mansaf dish. It was super flavorful and the crunch from the toppings were great. I'd skip the baba ganosh next time, it wasnt smokey and they added sambal on top. I can handle heat but i didnt think sambal was needed here
Hidden Gem for authentic Middle Eastern Food. The Mansaf lamb shank was tender and fall off the bone delicious. The yogurt sauce its cooked in comes in a cup on the side, yummy when poured over the rice. We also tried the Kibbeh and it was so delicious. Crispy on the outside while retaining the softness and moistness of the meat tucked neatly inside. A second visit we had the roasted lamb shank/Mandi. Just as amazing as the Mansaf. Tender and flavorful. You get a small salad with the plate, rice and pita. The second meal we also tried the falafel plate. Crisp and tender with delicious hummus for dipping. The grape leaves were just all right for me as I prefer the Syrian way of not in oil. They offer free hot tea that makes a great way to end the delicious meal. Overall a wonderful dining experience.
One of the best middle eastern restaurants in the Bay Area. We had lamb mandi which was absolutely fantastic and mouthwatering. The meet was absolutely tender (it melts right in your mouth) and the side dishes full of flavor. The ambiance was fine and the service was absolutely nice. Everyone was very polite and attentive to us. We were so hungry and the food was so good that we end up eating it fast before taking any pictures. One try it yourself
